Children’s toys
Wednesday, December 24th, 2008As the festive season is arriving shortly, gift buyers everywhere are thinking about what to select for youngsters. sector is massive with the inpersonal out of town toy ’sheds’ taking the biggest of the market. It’s long way from the simple traditional toy stores common in towns and cities 50 years ago and so is the range of toys on offer.
Most of today’s toys are coming from a large toy making industry in china. Almost overnight mass toy manufacturers have popped up to produce cheap toys made from plastic to accommodate the price savvy customer. It was the price advantage of China that created big manufacturers to move their entire lines of productions to Chinese companies. However as Mattel discovered in 2007 the quality control of these toy manufactures was not quite as high as it should be and led to the recall of several million toys worldwide. More traditional toys have been shifted back into the market due to these scares. The popularity of high quality wooden toys has grown steadily and the number of independent toy retailers has increased to reflect this. Because they are well made and are environmentally sound, a large number of parents are now choosing wooden toys. The wooden toy market is seemingly less affected by the economic downfall, while on the other hand many large manufacturers and having many problems. Many parents would rather spend more on an item that is going to last longer and is better made than a cheap one that will break quickly.
Christmas means gifts for children. To make this year extra special, why not skip the toy superstore and patronize a local toy shop. You may find something that will not only delight your child, but provide real value for the money.
